Joe Tansill wants to be the hands, feet and heart of God to people in need.

We are pleased to announce that Joe Tansill has been chosen as the new Executive Director of Paz de Cristo.

Joe Tansill

Joe’s life is deeply rooted in service. From an early age, he has had a heart to help the less fortunate, working poor and people experiencing homelessness. “I first served the homeless at St. Vincent de Paul in Milwaukee,” Joe shared.

He was also involved with Glenmary Home Missioners serving the poor in rural Kentucky. Joe completed three separate mission trips and organized fundraising efforts including a bicycle ride across America.

Then in 1988, Joe built shelving for the pantry in the little yellow house on Country Club Drive where Paz de Cristo’s first meal was made. Joe and his family recall many fond memories of serving together at Paz and continue as faithful supporters.

Joe is a long-time resident of Arizona. He moved from the Chicago area in 1981 to attend Arizona State University and to purse his love of golf. At the expense of his golf game, Joe earned a Master’s degree in business administration and health care management. He has enjoyed a full career in public service working for both Maricopa County and the State of Arizona government in several management roles.

“I am excited to join the staff, volunteers and donors at Paz to carry on the great work that has been done over the past 31 years.” Joe Tansill

During his time with Maricopa County Public Health, Joe served as the Business Administrator for Community Health Services which oversaw the Healthcare for the Homeless Medical Clinic in downtown Phoenix. In addition, he supervised business operations for the Public Health Clinic and Correctional Health Services, and he worked in both budgeting and finance for Maricopa Integrated Health Systems which operates the County hospital.

While with the State of Arizona, Joe led several large projects for the Department of Economic Security and managed business operations for the Division of Developmental Disabilities which serves more than 38,000 members.

Joe brings more than 25 years of management experience along with a wealth of enthusiasm for his new role. “I am excited to join the staff, volunteers and donors at Paz to carry on the great work that has been done over the past 31 years,” Joe said. “I see this as a wonderful opportunity to be the hands, feet and heart of God to serve those in need.”

Please join us in welcoming Joe to our family at Paz de Cristo. He began his new role on July 1, 2020, and can be reached directly at (480) 464-2370, Ext. 204 or joet@pazdecristo.org.
