Feeding, Clothing & Empowering Our Community at Paz de Cristo
We are a place of peace and hope for people struggling with hunger, poverty and homelessness.
Last year, we served more than 14,000 men, women, children, veterans, and seniors with a wide range of supportive services from a hot meal every evening to food boxes, showers, clothing, job search assistance, bus passes, Arizona identification, mail service and much more.
Generous donors and volunteers fuel our mission to Feed, Clothe and Empower the homeless and working poor in the Phoenix East Valley. Paz de Cristo is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that was born in 1988 as an outreach of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church.
The first meal was prepared in the kitchen of a little yellow house on Country Club Drive. Dinner was transported and served on card tables in a parking lot on the corner of Hibbert & Main Streets in Mesa.
Today, a caring community of multiple faith traditions assists people with diverse religions, backgrounds and cultures at our expanded location in Mesa. Each month, we receive more than 7,000 visits by about 2,400 unique guests of which 600 people arrive for the very first time.
We give our guests a hand so that they can get back on their feet. We Feed, Clothe and Empower.

No matter how small your contribution may seem, for those who need it most, every bit of help makes a real difference.
Are There Special Volunteer Opportunities During The Holidays?
Yes. Paz de Cristo is proud to organize special programs and events during the holidays, as we know that this can be a very meaningful time in people’s lives. On these occasions, we accompany the community during truly important moments. During this time of year, we generally need more help than ever, both in terms of resources and volunteers.
Can My Company Get Involved In Corporate Volunteering?
Of course. Companies and organizations are always welcome to help our cause. This involves corporate volunteering, which can include donation campaigns, group service days, or resources that improve participants’ quality of life. We especially value companies that are committed to social impact and have ideas or initiatives to help.
Is Remote Or Virtual Volunteering Available?
Many of our activities are conducted in person, usually at our community center in Mesa, Arizona. However, if you are unable to attend for certain reasons, you can also help remotely. Any action that can increase our visibility is always welcome. For example, sharing the cause on social media, supporting fundraising initiatives, or even telling your friends about Paz de Cristo.
