Three Generations: A Family of Service

Barb and Rick Reardon have been volunteering at Paz de Cristo since it began in 1988.

At the time, they were looking for a place to serve with their children and found opportunities to volunteer as a family.  Barb and Rick raised their children to value service, and now their grandchildren are volunteering at Paz de Cristo too– the third generation of volunteers.

Barb is a long-standing Board Member. Barb and Rick also serve as a Meal Coordinators responsible for supervising teams of volunteers and preparing 300 meals for the evening dinner service. When asked why Barb keeps serving, she said, “It’s the right thing to do. I care about the person.”

In addition, Rick stays active maintaining the facilities at Paz de Cristo with his grandson, Nick Zazick.

Barb and Rick have instilled the value of service in their family leaving a legacy of helping people in need experience a brighter future.
